How to Apply for Readmission
Readmission Criteria & Process
If your student status is currently listed as inactive because you stopped attending UCR for more than 3 consecutive quarters or were disqualified from the University, you will need to file a Readmission Application to be able to resume your education at UCR. Please review the information below to understand the eligibility for readmission and the steps you will need to follow to apply for readmission.
Eligibility to Readmit to CNAS
- Students must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0. If your GPA is below a 2.0, you will need to either complete UCR courses through Concurrent Enrollment through the UCR Extension Center or enroll through UCR Summer Sessions to repair your GPA. Please consult with your major advisor about the best options to raise your GPA to a 2.0 to qualify for Readmission.
- Students must meet the Change of Major criteria for the major they wish to readmit to.
- Students with less than 75 earned college units may be eligible to readmit as Undeclared. AP or transfer units earned before your original matriculation at UCR are not counted toward your unit total to determine eligibility to readmit as Undeclared, but anything earned outside of UCR after your original UCR matriculation will apply toward the unit total to determine eligibility to readmit as Undeclared.
- Students with more than 75 earned units, including units earned at other institutions after their original matriculation at UCR, are no longer eligible to readmit as "Undeclared," they can only apply for readmission directly into a major.
- Students who wish to readmit to UCR after being academically disqualified from the University are advised to wait at least a year before applying for readmission and may also be required to meet with the Divisional Dean.
To apply for readmission, please follow these steps:
-
File a completed Readmission Application with the appropriate college office below:

How to Enroll through the UCR Extension Center
Concurrent Enrollment through the UCR Extension Center
Students who are inactive and need to repair their GPA to a 2.0 or take courses to meet change of major criteria to become eligible to readmit, can enroll in UCR courses through the "concurrent enrollment" process at the UCR Extension Center. Please follow the steps below to be able to enroll in UCR courses through the "concurrent enrollment" process at the UCR Extension Center.
-
Review your Degree Audit on R'Web to determine your remaining degree requirements and know which courses you may need to take through the Extension Center
-
Make an appointment with the academic advisor for the major you plan to readmit for to discuss your plan and determine your readmission eligibility for that major
-
Review and follow the steps outlined on the UCR Extension website about this process
-
You should start attending the classes you would like to add through concurrent enrollment right from the start of the quarter even though you won't be officially registered yet
-
CNAS and the UCR Extension Center will review and confirm approval/denial via DocuSign of the classes you plan to take through the Extension Center
-
UCR Extension Center Concurrent Enrollment requests are not reviewed until after week 3 of the quarter, at the earliest
-
-
If approved, the UCR Extension Center will enroll you in the classes
-
Please note, Financial Aid is not offered to students attending UCR Extension for concurrent enrollment, but you can check with UCR Extension regarding any financial assistance programs, (typically private loans) for which Extension students may be eligible
