New Transfer Student

New Transfers to CNAS

Welcome to CNAS!  Please see the information below for details on what you will need to do as an incoming transfer student to CNAS and UCR.  As a new transfer student, you will be required to attend and participate in a couple of mandatory events that will cover general information about UCR, the CNAS college, as well as your specific major.  Please follow the steps below to be fully prepared for the fall quarter!

Step 1. Preparation Work Needed Prior to Orientation Session

A.  Familiarize yourself with the requirements of your intended UCR degree by accessing the UCR General Catalog (catalog.ucr.edu).

B. Log into R'Web (rweb.ucr.edu) to access all of your UCR student resources, including the Degree Audit, which will help you determine the remaining requirements for your specific major based on your transfer credit. (Please note: if you submitted your completed, official transcripts to the UCR Undergraduate Admissions Office by the transcript submission deadline, our student information system should have the most up-to-date information of your academic record.  However, some of your transfer courses might still need to be reviewed and articulated by an academic advisor but this process will be finalized by the time you attend orientation).

C.  Access the UCR Schedule of Classes (classes.ucr.edu) to find open course sections by subject, degree requirement, day, and time offered. This will assist you in making a preliminary course schedule prior to your orientation session. Please make sure to note the course registration numbers (CRNs), days and times of each lecture, discussion, and laboratory section in which you would like to enroll and bring this information to your orientation session.

Using these tools prior to your orientation session will allow you to focus in on any questions you may need answered by your academic advisor and speed your enrollment process.

Step 2. Register for the Highlander Orientation for Transfer Students (HOT)

The Highlander Orientation for Transfer Students (HOT) is a mandatory one-day program for new UCR transfer students. You will learn about all the resources available at UCR for your academic and personal success.  You will also have the opportunity to network with faculty, staff and other UCR transfer students.  To register for Transfer Orientation, please go to transferorientation.ucr.edu.  Additionally, during Transfer Orientation, you will also receive academic advising from a CNAS academic advisor within your major and you will register for your fall courses.  Therefore, it is mandatory that you register for and attend this orientation.

Step 3. Attend the CNAS Mandatory Fall Orientation for Transfer Students

As a new UCR transfer student in the College of Natural and Agricultural Sciences (CNAS) you must also attend the CNAS Mandatory Fall Orientation for Transfer Students, which will be held held in September.  The specific date and time will be posted here and will also be emailed to all transfer students soon.  At this CNAS-specific event, you will be meeting with the CNAS Divisional Dean of Undergraduate Academic Advising who will cover more college-specific information and you will also get a chance to meet with faculty from your major department.
