New Transfer Student

New Transfers to CNAS

Please check back here in the summer for information about the CNAS Transfer Orientation Advising Sessions for Fall 2018.  Below you will see the general information you should know and can expect about this process.

Step 1. Preparation Work Needed Prior to Advising Session

A.  Determine the degree requirements for your intended UCR degree by accessing the UCR General Catalog at catalog.ucr.edu.

B.  Conduct a degree check in R'Web at www.Rweb.ucr.edu in order to determine your remaining requirements for your intended degree at UCR.*

C.  Access the UCR on-line Schedule of Classes at www.classes.ucr.edu. It includes the UCR academic calendar with important dates and deadlines for changing your course schedule, enrolling in classes on the internet via R'Web, and paying your bill. Remember, the UCR General Catalog can also be accessed for reference to course descriptions. The on-line Schedule of Classes search features allow students to find open course sections by subject, degree requirement, day, and time offered. This will assist you in making a preliminary course enrollment schedule prior to your academic advising session. Please make sure to write down the call numbers, days and times of each lecture, discussion, and laboratory section in which you would like to enroll and bring this information to your academic advising session.

Using these three tools prior to your academic advising session will allow you to focus in on any questions you may need answered by your academic advisor and speed your enrollment process.

*Please note, to provide accurate advice, your academic advisor and our student information system on R'Web must have an up-to-date summary of your educational record. If you provide complete, official transcripts to the Admissions Office by the transcript submission deadline, this information will be articulated with UCR course credit and available to you and your advisor by your Academic Advising Session. If not, you will need to bring copies of current, complete grade transcripts of all coursework completed prior to transfer to UCR when you come for advising. Although these transcripts need not be official, they must be complete in order for your advisor to provide accurate advice. In any case you must provide official transcripts to the Admissions Office before your admission process is complete.  Also note, your R'Web Degree Check will not be complete and accurate until official transcripts of all previous college coursework has been received by UCR, articulated to UCR equivalents and evaluated by CNAS academic advisors to determine CNAS requirements met and still remaining. Any academic advising based on transcripts that have not been articulated and evaluated at the time of the advising appointment is only tentative. If students enroll before their previous transcripts have been properly evaluated, they may need to adjust their Fall enrollment after their official transcripts have been evaluated.

Step 2. Register for Highlander Orientation for Transfer Students (HOT)

To register for Highlander Orientation for Transfer Students, please go to http://orientation.ucr.edu/transfer-student/index.html. If you need assistance with this process, please call (951) 827-2789. The CNAS Highlander Orientation session will be held on TBA. Although academic advising for CNAS students will not be available at the Highlander Orientation for Transfer Students session, attending this orientation will give you valuable insight into important campus resources before you begin classes this fall.

Step 3. Make an Appointment and Attend your Academic Advising Session
